Marvel Comics Writer Dan Slott made a claim about Aunt May in an interview with GamesRadar.

Allegedly, developer Insomniac didn’t want Aunt May as a physical character in the game because they weren’t sure they could create a realistic and good-looking old character in the game due to the character’s wrinkles. Instead, the studio wanted her to be featured as a voice on in-game radio.

Slott says:

“According to them, old characters – wrinkly characters – to make them look good and realistic, it takes a big amount of work. Equal to what they could use to create five other characters.”

Despite this, Slott insisted that Aunt May should be in the game and explained that this character doesn’t have to be that old after all. So Insomniac was convinced to include Aunt May in the game.

As it is known, Aunt May plays a very important role in Marvel’s Spider-Man and appears in many cutscenes along with other main characters in the story. Therefore, the physical inclusion of Aunt May in the game seems to be a positive and pleasing addition.
