When Epic Games officially announced Fortnite Impostors, the similarity between the mode and famous social deduction game Among Us was too bright to miss. Innersloth devs even openly accused Epic Games of copying their game but Epic stayed quiet until now.
In Fortnite’s latest update v18.20 , Epic Games confirmed that their Impostors mode is indeed inspired by Among Us. The patch notes openly mentioned that “v18.20 brings improvements to Impostors, the game mode inspired by Among Us from Innersloth.”
While this is definitely not an apology, accepting it also seems to be a step towards the right direction. But there is one thing – inspiration and copycat are pretty different, and it is hard to say that their Impostors mode was just a mere inspiration. Almost everything in the concept of Among Us was used straight away, which is why Innersloth devs were mad in the first place.
Epic Games was also once sued by PUBG Corp. for a very similar matter. Therefore this is becoming a serious thing if this keeps happening.
