The legal war between Epic Games and Apple continues, and parties are still standing strong on the matter despite minor victories declared during the time. But now the news come from Epic’s side as they made some new friends for the road ahead. Microsoft, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the attorneys general of 35 states have filed briefs supporting Epic’s case with the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

States simply put forth the idea that district court was in mistake about the first section of the Sherman Act not applying to unilateral contracts like Apple’s terms for developers. According to the brief, court also did not properly weigh the damage by Apple’s claimed anti-competitive behavior against benefits.

Microsoft brought its own benefits to the game as they mentioned that Apple’s effective ban on cloud gaming services in the App Store could possibly damage Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Microsoft also disputed the decision by district court regarding  Apple’s in-app payment requirement not being an anti-competitive effort to tie products together.

Matters seem to stay hot and complicated at the moment, and it is surely unknown how all these could end.
