According to the investor letter released by Netflix, the company has 55 games in development. This is actually a huge number for a company that is still fresh in the industry. They have not revealed the full list of games in development yet though.
Netflix aims to have a higher subscriber retention with the addition of games to the platform. According to their words, “gaming is a multi-year journey”. We understand that they have some long term plans with their gaming venture, and the number of games in development stands as a solid proof of this. An interesting statistics though, is that only less than 1 percent of their subscribers are playing the games on a daily basis.
They have already included some strong names into their portfolio such as Into The Breach, Heads Up and Before Your Eyes. The games are all free of charge and they do not contain any ads or in-app purchases. Netflix is also acquiring more studios to ramp up their efforts in gaming area.
