One of the most remarkable news of this year was the new PlayStation Plus tiers and their benefits. After months of leaks, speculations and news, it is finally here for everyone to enjoy. After over a decade of usual PlayStation Plus service we used to know, a huge refreshing on the service was surely a good idea to catch up with the current industry standards. Considering the success of Xbox Game Pass in recent years, one could say it is even a late move.
Basic system of this subscription service stays the same. You pick a subscription tier, register and pay for it, and enjoy the benefits for the tier you have paid for. There are three tiers called PlayStation Plus Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium. As their names imply, the first one is the smallest package but do not be deceived by the sound of it. While the latter two are getting much more larger, the first one is also good enough for a lot of gamers.
There will be some additional benefits for the subscribers like backwards compatibility, a whole pack of games from previous PlayStation consoles, exclusive discounts for different games, add-ons and expansions, online multiplayer gaming, and a ton of other features.
Before going through the list of games, let’s remember the summary of these three tiers.
PlayStation Plus Essential
The first tier costs $9.99/month and grants access to two monthly downloadable games, exclusive discounts, cloud storage for saved games, online multiplayer access, share play, game help (PS5 only), and the PlayStation Plus Collection (PS5 only).
PlayStation Plus Extra
The second tier costs $14.99/month and grants all benefits from the Essential tier besides adding a catalog of up to 400 downloadable PS4 and PS5 games.
PlayStation Plus Premium
The third and final tier costs $17.99/month and grants all benefits from both previous tiers. Besides, PlayStation Plus Premium adds up to 340 more games from a catalog of PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS3 titles (last one is only available via cloud streaming – others can be downloaded).
