Nintendo says it is consolidating its operations in the US and Canada.

With this move, we are seeing its California and Toronto offices shutting down. Approximately 100 employees are displaced with this sad news. California office was quite vital for many departments like sales, marketing and support. Employees will be moving on in the Washington offices with their roles.

As much as the relocation option is left open for employees, there are speculations about some workers not being happy with the decision.

As a result of the Redwood City office shutting down, America’s leadership team will be also seeing some changes. Nick Chavez, SVP of Sales and Marketing, has left the company, with Nintendo saying that Devon Pritchard, currently Executive Vice President, Business Affairs and Publisher Relations “will assume interim leadership” of Chavez’s former role. Pritchard “will oversee strategy and execution of sales, marketing and communications across the US and Canada.”

In the meantime, Nintendo have not provided any clear reason for the decision. Many people think that it is just a matter of convenience.

A couple of good news from other side of Nintendo, the company opened preorders for Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise, its expansion for the relaxing life sim. It will also be free to download for anyone who has a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.
