Stardew Valley is one of the games to remember when the discussion is about the concept “Indie game”. Game went over 15 million copies in sales, and is available on many platforms. It’s a massive success for the creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone.

Barone confirmed last year that he was working on another new project called Haunted Chocolatier. While it will not be a sequel or anything directly related to Stardew Valley, it is known that there will be certain similarities between two. This was revealed in October 2021, with a sneak peek already available on Youtube.

While it is great news that Barone is on his way to bring us more games to enjoy, there still exists a question: What about Stardew Valley’s future? When asked, Barone said this during an interview: “I have no plans either way. I don’t want to make any promises for more updates, and I also don’t want to say definitively that it’s finished. I think the game is in a very good place as it is, so I don’t think it’s necessary to add more to it. But at the same time, there’s always room for improvement.”

It may not sound really well or promising, but it is still far from being end of the line for Stardew Valley. Updates may or may not come. But it is understandable that Barone may want focus on a different project after this long. After all, Stardew Valley debuted on Steam in 2012, and it’s now 2022. Maybe Haunted Chocolatier will be able to carry the flag and keep us happy in the absence of a possible future for Stardew Valley.
