Serkan Toto from Kantan Games made a comment about Mario Kart 9, which he mentioned as “in active development”. He said that game is not really far away from release, and we may see some teasers during 2022.
He also clearly said that game comes with a twist. While he did not ruin the surprise and left it right at the sweet spot to make us excited, of course the teasers can eventually give us a few ideas before release. Apparently the game will be more than some visual upgrade.
Toto continued his words by adding that 2022 could be a year for an established Nintendo IP to be released on mobile devices. Since some series like Fire Emblem and Mario made a transition from consoles to mobile devices, it is pretty much expected sooner or later considering the potential of mobile game market.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe actually managed to become the best selling title in entire series with over 38.74M sales worldwide. Still though, Nintendo is apparently determined to push it even further with this new step.
