One of the most important topics about Overwatch 2 is the currency and loot boxes as people want to keep their items when they make the jump to the second game. In many live-service sequels, this is a critical matter since this means some extra payments for most players, but Blizzard came with some good news today. Your Overwatch currency and loot box contents will automatically be transferred over to your Overwatch 2 account when the sequel launches.
The news came from Overwatch commercial lead Jon Spector, as he kindly responded to some questions in a new Reddit AMA session. One of the questions were about the current currency and loot box content players had in the original Overwatch. He was pretty clear about the answer, as he said that nothing will be taken away once the merge happens.
Only one thing to remind here though. Since Overwatch 2 will not have loot boxes, your current boxes will be automatically opened before launch and the contents will be transferred to your account. We will see how this happens in October.
