As much as being a theoretically great feature, Quick Resume can sometimes put you in awkward and unpleasant situations. In theory, the feature puts several games in a suspended state, providing you with instant access without having to fully load them back in. In practice, it can act a little weird though.
When using Quick Resume, you have no real control over what and when games become active. A game in Quick Resume may suddenly and randomly leave its suspended state, making the feature feel unreliable at times. But those moments may be left behind after Quick Resume is getting a huge update.
Xbox engineering lead Eden Marie shared some information on Twitter regarding this update, and Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Ring will be able to test the feature over these changes.
When you press the view button on a game, you will be able to pin it into Quick Resume list, so your Xbox will always prioritize that game for a Quick Resume status, and it won’t be overridden by opening up other games. The feature will allow you to keep two games permanently in Quick Resume state, while others will work in the usual way. This update will hopefully make Quick Resume feel like a more consistent.
The feature will roll out today to Xbox Insiders in the testing Alpha Ring, and will typically hit the public version of the Xbox Series X|S OS a few weeks later.
