The Day Before is one of the most wishlisted games in Steam, and it was only a matter of weeks before it would be released in 21th of June, 2022. Game is a mix of DayZ, The Division and some bits of The Last of Us. This combination itself sounds quite good for a open-world survival game. But this date for release was given in the end of its previous official trailer, which shows about the game’s general mechanics and open-world content. Since the studio have some bigger plans, the recent decisions became a reason for this delay.
Developer Fntastic told IGN during a recent contact that the game will switch to Unreal Engine 5, especially for its strong open-world advantages. This transition will obviously take some time on its own, therefore the difficult decision was in favor of a delay. Fntastic is aiming to come up with a game that is indeed great, and we have seen many examples about how disastrous could things get when a game is rushed. While knowing that we will have to wait for a whole year is a bit sad, at least we have a new planned release date, which is 1st of March, 2023.
