After a long wait, FromSoftware finally powered up its Dark Souls 3 PC servers again. News were posted on Twitter by the Player Support team and the official Dark Souls Twitter account. Reason for this long shutdown was a security vulnerability that allowed hackers to remotely control players’ computers.
Ever since the vulnerability was revealed, FromSoftware was working to patch the servers and secure them fully again. The shutdown came for PvP servers of Dark Souls 3, Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls Remastered. They also patched the community-made anti-cheat mod Blue Sentinel.
During the shutdown time, Elden Ring servers were also checked and patched for the same issue. At the moment, only Dark Souls 3 servers are back online and there is no certain timeframe given for Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls servers to come back online. Hopefully these issues will not come up again.
