Risk Of Rain is one of the best roguelike games out there, and it was originally released back in 2013. The game has a sequel, Risk of Rain 2, which features a 3D environment in contrast to prequel’s 2D platformer style. Now, the series is aiming to make a great comeback with Risk of Rain Returns, as Hopoo Games announced it.
Hopoo Games community manager Jonathan Cheetham said “Don’t think of this as just a lick of paint on an old classic. Risk of Rain Returns completely overhauls the original and introduces a ton of new content. It has an upgraded code base so we will be able to continue to update and add to the game with features that weren’t previously possible.”
The game will be improved in every aspect, including graphics, gameplay, balance, quality of life, multiplayer and more. Also, Cheetham mentioned that the fact that Gearbox purchasing the ownership of Risk of Rain IP does not mean that series will have a huge change. Gearbox was the publisher of Risk of Rain 2, and they will be taking the wheel after Risk of Rain Returns.
Risk of Rain Returns is expected to arrive in 2023. Precise current date is probably going to be announced in upcoming months.
