Blizzard is providing quarterly updates for Diablo 4 since some time, and now we are getting the latest one that shows us some nice visuals from open world of the game. While we already saw some of the environments before, one of the most critical features of Diablo series was the thrilling and hellish environments we experienced. Especially the first two games were very successful about it.
Great news is, Diablo 4 is bringing together the technological quality of Diablo 3 and grim feeling of Diablo 1 and 2. Probably we could not ask for something better.
There are many different areas from different games, even to the point that we could say some places are actually slightly inspired from other similar great ARPGs like Grim Dawn. As much as Diablo is not a game that would never “need” inspirations, as it is the inspiration in its own entirety, it seems truly awesome that developers and artists are bringing together years of experience and progress into a title that deserves to be the best one ever.
In terms of locations in the lore, the glimpses of Lut Gholein, Harrogath, Mount Arreat, Kurast and more are immediately catching the eye. The locations themselves are the Scosglen Coast, the Orbei Monastery, the settlement of Kyovoshad, a couple of the dungeons of Sanctuary, and some “forgotten places”.
With such great advancements in the development progress, it is really exciting to imagine what will the final product look like.
