Jeff Strain, founder of the studio Undead Labs, which is currently working on the development of State of Decay 3, spoke about what he had in mind for the game before he left the studio.
His vision was, in short, “the ultimate fulfillment of the survival fantasy”. State of Decay was definitely a good title in terms of survival games, and now they have some solid experience under their belts to carry it even further. He said “It’s a game of interacting simulated systems, and the deeper the simulation, the richer the emergent mechanics and sense of agency.”
There was a catch though. Strain also mentioned that his time with State of Decay 3 was the conceptual part rather than the implementation of ideas in reality. This also creates a difference between two phases of development, obviously.
Currently there is no release date given for State of Decay 3.
