FIFA 22 cross-play test is soon to arrive

FIFA 22 is confirmed to have a cross-play test for the platforms PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Google Stadia. As confirmed by Electronic Arts, cross-play will be limited to Online Seasons and Online Friendlies game modes. Reason to limit the feature to those two modes is prevent any possible new issues. You will be able to enable or disable it in the menu, alongside an option to opt-in and opt-out.

According to Electronic Arts, players will be seeing a symbol to indicate that a player is on a different platform, but this cross-play test should not have any direct impact on gameplay. Considering the differences between platforms, the biggest impact of this function is expected to be on Stadia players. Due to a smaller install base, Stadia has a very small pool of players. FIFA 22 was released for Stadia last September.

This announcement for cross-play test came just after the report that indicates a plan for cross-play support for FIFA 23 around late 2022.
