MultiVersus is breaking its own concurrent player records

Nowadays it is really tough to make a fighting game and make it a great hit, so MultiVersus did not look like a very promising game at first even if it looked nice. Apparently we were all wrong though, because pitting fighters from many different fields in one game is still attracting people if executed correctly.

MultiVersus entered open beta just a week ago, but the concurrent player count is immense. Lately it saw around 150k concurrent players, and it is only the numbers in Steam. The game is also available in PlayStation and Xbox, so expected numbers are around 5 million total players. It is really impressive for a week-old beta period.

Currently there are no confirmed numbers from Warner Bros, but it is not really difficult to have an idea after checking the leaderboards. There is a screenshot that shows a player at rank 4.9M, so it is very likely for MultiVersus to already be over 5 million total players. It may or may not be the bottom of this list, so we can only imagine how far the numbers are going.

We might learn about the real numbers if developers decide to make a celebration for a great milestone, but it is also crucial to remember that these numbers are not an ultimate scale for the success of a game. At best, it could show the amount of total interest from players at a certain period of time. We will wait and see how this huge interest unfolds.
