Rocket League now has a new Battle Royale mode

Now you may think “oh, another one?”. But before you go running to grab a black bag in the next 5 seconds, hear this. This is not a usual Battle Royale experience, and Rocket League actually managed to come up with a great limited time event in the form of Battle Royale.

This event is called Knockout Bash, and it offers a similar gameplay compared to Destruction Derby in the Rocket League setting. In this event, you will be using your usual skills and moves alongside three new skills. You will have Attack, Block and Grab as the new additions. Attack sends an opponent flying when accurately performed by dodging into an opponent. Block is the actual defense against Attack, requires you to perform a properly timed parry. Grab allows you to grab other players and throw them. There are also some enhanced versions of the classic mechanics, an example being the ability of triple jump instead of double jump.

Knockout Bash comes with three special Arenas for the event, and their walls are worn down to allow you throw your opponents out of the arena. This mode is solo-queue only, and you will have three lives. Arenas will have a shrinking safezone circle around them, which will get smaller in time. If you stay out of the safezone for over 10 seconds, you are knocked out. If there isn’t a winner after six minutes, there is a Sudden KO where every attack is fully maxed out and those thrown into the Safezone are automatically knocked out.

Needless to say, there are new cosmetics and loot boxes coming with this event for those who revel in their appearances. Knockout Bash will be available between April 27 and May 10.
