Sony is acquiring the esports platform Repeat.gg

Sony is diving deeper into esports scene, and its latest move is acquiring Repeat.gg tournament platform. The platform has hosted over 100.000 tournaments with a total of 2.3 million participants  across many major games according to the reports. Besides, platform will not turn to PlayStation exclusive work but add it to the other current platforms they work on.

Repeat.gg is surely not the first or only acquisition in esports market for Sony. They also purchased the Evo tournament last year, and they will be hosting its own tournaments through the PlayStation Tournaments platform. Coming together with their investments into live service games in recent weeks, this could be huge.

With the acquisition, Repeat.gg will be able to access to a lot more resources, games and technology. This will allow both sides to ramp up their efforts and get better results. After the acquisitions of Bungie and Haven Studios, Sony is taking steps one after another in its series of acquisitions to enlarge its zone of influence in the esports market.
