Embracer Group CEO Lars Wingefors confirmed that Volition is going under Gearbox Entertainment flag after the second quarter earnings results. According to his words, Saints Row did not meet full expectations in terms of fan base response. But he also included that the game financially stayed in line with the management expectations of the quarter.
Volition has been working hard to improve the gameplay experience though, especially prioritizing stability and co-op issues. Game received a big update recently, containing over 200 improvements and having a visible impact on the game. It is now a matter of time to see how Gearbox will be able to manage this progress.
In the meanwhile, Wingefors said that this is the first internal group transfer between major studios, but it is not necessarily the last. This might be a hint for similar future news too.
