343 Industries lately confirmed that they are seeking to find some new microtransactions for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which would make specific customization items purchasable via renamed Season Points.
They have shared a blog post regarding this subject. In the post, they said that the MCC’s existing currency, Season Points, will be renamed to Spartan Points in a future update, and they are intending to make the 1,000+ items tied to Season Points more available to new players or those who want to skip the grind. The expected method for this would be obviously enabling Spartan Points for purchase.
About this new plan, the developers say that while they are happy with the current system of Spartan Points which are being earned via various gameplay mechanics like leveling and challenges, new players are more likely to be intimidated by the mass amounts of cosmetics in terms of expected gameplay time. Therefore they will add the option of purchasing Spartan Points as an alternative.
Currently there are no further details about this new system, but we should hear more in future.
