The problems during the launch of Overwatch 2 are already a long story now, but this time Blizzard is back with some good news. They announced that Overwatch 2 reached daily player count over 25 million. This is triple the amount of Overwatch 1.
This huge record is clearly caused by the free-to-play model used in the new game. As much as the sequel does not have much differences compared to the first game, Blizzard insisted on calling it a second game on its own. Honestly, Overwatch 2 is breaking this record despite a lot of features that actually made players sad or angry. Server issues, phone verification, locked heroes, 100-match requirement for new accounts… A lot.
Many people claimed that it would be a dead game before launch. But if the previous game was played this much and you are simply replacing it with a relatively polished version, you can apparently count on the possibility that it will be played as well. We might see new records broken in upcoming weeks too.
