Modders are bringing RTX to old games

Nvidia’s RTX Remix tool provided people a great way to implement RTX technology to older games which did not have the chance back then. There have been a few examples recently, and now the list is expanding.

Modders on Beyond3D forum are now sharing their RTX results with games like Half-Life 2, Max Payne and SWAT 4. To be honest, they look really great. Some occasional issues are inevitable due to technical limitations, but they seem to be of minor impact. There are some tools for converting API calls and low-level shaders into relatively newer ones which allow modders to work on certain games.

Portal RTX seems to have opened the way for those great projects, and in time we will probably have much more of them. If you imagined how a realistically implemented light source would affect a game you loved back in the day, this might be your time.
