Another new Quarterly Update blog post was released by Blizzard Entertainment for Diablo 4. They are periodically sharing the progress for the development of the game, and provide a lot of crucial information about how it goes.
This time, they have touched a very critical subject which was recently discussed a lot with the launch of Diablo Immortal. Yes, it is the game being pay-to-win. With great news they arrived, so let’s take a look at the details of their statements.
One of the most crucial parts of the game they discussed is the Season system. It is very clearly mentioned that they will be using the Season system from Diablo 3, and they will be adding live events to make things much more interesting for us. Developers also said that they will be capping the paragon points too, so everyone will have a chance to become reasonably powerful.
When it comes to pay-to-win questions, they were straightforward to tell that every single impact on the power is sourced on the gameplay, not microtransactions. While there will be a lot of cosmetics to either earn or buy, nothing will impact the gameplay and the power levels of player characters just because they made a purchase. There will be a Season Pass with free and premium tiers, again it will only include cosmetics and premium currency in the premium tier. Free tier will include gameplay boosts besides the cosmetics and premium currency, and it will be available for everyone so it is still fair and not pay-to-win.
Speaking of premium currency, it is also clearly stated that it will only be used for buying cosmetics. Gameplay boosts will not be available to buy with premium currency.
As a result, we can at least take a breath in relief that Diablo 4 will not be pay-to-win like the recent mobile game Diablo Immortal. While some people are still cautions about these statements because it may still not fully reflect the facts, provided information is at least detailed enough on many parts.
