Konami has confirmed that eFootball will launch on September 30th, just one day before FIFA 2022’s official release date. eFootball will be playable on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

As it is known, eFootball will replace PES (Pro Evolution Soccer). More content will arrive after the launch of the game, along with free seasonal updates.

Seitaro Kimura, Producer of the eFootball series at Konami, said that eFootball is the name of their overall platform, and the official name of the first game of this season is “eFootball 2022”. Kimura also added that new functions such as cross-platform matchmaking and mobile controller support will come with frequent free updates in the future, and new game modes, free or premium options will be offered to players.

At launch, players will be able to choose from 9 teams and compete offline against the AI or their friends.

These teams are:

  • Arsenal FC
  • CA River Plate
  • CR Flamengo
  • FC Barcelona
  • FC Bayern Munich
  • Juventus
  • Manchester United
  • São Paulo FC
  • SC Corinthians Paulista

There will also be weekly online events, with cross-play support allowing PS4 and Xbox One owners to compete against the next generation console players.

It has also been confirmed that a free Autumn update will be released that includes the Creative Teams mode, which is very similar to FIFA’s Ultimate Team. In this mode, players will be able to create their own teams, as if playing fantasy football, by choosing a team crest, kit and stadium among 600 licensed clubs. Thus, players will be able to sign footballers and coaches and compete against other players and try to be promoted to a higher league with the points they will earn.

In addition to this information, Konami has announced many features that they plan to add to eFootball after the first Autumn update, such as PS5 haptic feedback, advanced ball trapping, mobile controller support, full cross-platform matchmaking, “Power Pass”, “Power Shot” and other special kicks.
