Electronic Arts is shutting down servers for old games

In the recent news, Electronic Arts announced that they are going to shut down online servers for some of their older games including Mirror’s Edge, NBA Jam: On Fire Edition, Gatling Gears and Shank 2.

Currently the expected date of shutdown for those servers is 19th of January, 2023. Only achievements that will be affected by those shutdowns are found in NBA Jam: On Fire Edition though. Other games have their achievements available also in offline mode.

Those are not the only shutdowns announced by Electronic Arts this year, as they will be shutting down the servers for a few Command and Conquer games on 9th of November besides Onrush on 30th of November. The complete and updated list of shutdowns is found below.

  • Dragon Age: Origins (Multiplayer Screenshots Server)

November 9, 2022

  • Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3
  • Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
  • Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath
  • Mercenaries 2: World in Flames

November 30, 2022

  • Onrush

Other companies like Ubisoft are also shutting down their servers for old games too. Apparently this is something that has to happen sooner or later.
