Hitman 3 had its roguelike Freelancer mode announced some time ago, and the mode was expected to come out back in Spring 2022. IO Interactive announced a delay until the second half of the year. After this first delay, we are unfortunately seeing a second delay which pushes the game back further to 26th of January, 2023.
IO Interactive announced the delay and mentioned that the developers need more time preparing the mode and its contents. Freelancer will be a single-player mode that has roguelite elements that involve strategic planning and a customizable safehouse.
Reason of this delay was specifically “project having grown in scope” according to IO Interactive’s words. They are going to come with a larger launch content, bringing almost all locations from the World of Assassination from day one. Before the launch day, IO Interactive is planning to run a closed test. Details for this test will be given on 27th of October.
