Phil Spencer said that the regulator concerns around Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard are fair, as the deal is indeed very big. Considering the positions and sizes of both companies, this is no easy deal at all.
While the acquisition process and regulator checks are being done, Spencer was also roaming around the world, talking to various authorities about the acquisition and the process. Authorities in Brazil already approved the deal, but UK and US are still not completely done about this. Deadline for the decision is soon though, so they will have to come up with a solid word.
Phil Spencer is still confident that the deal will be approved in the end by all regulators. Actual interest of Microsoft in this deal lies in the potential of Activision Blizzard King, the mobile games branch. Nowadays, mobile gaming market is much more lucrative than PC and console gaming, so Microsoft is aiming to grab a slice from that cake.
