Redfall will not be a “Left 4 Dead with vampires”

Redfall is one of the most expected upcoming releases for 2023, and Arkane is working hard on the title. From what is revealed until now, the general idea about the game was around “the game is a Left 4 Dead with vampires instead of zombies”. Lately in an interview, Redfall creative director Ricardo Bare and studio director Harvey Smith said that it is not really true though.

They say that while there are some very similar points such as four characters with a co-op and you are fighting some undead, the actual experience will be a lot more different. The gameplay will be more similar to Far Cry according to their words. They define the main difference between Redfall and the sorts of Left 4 Dead, Back 4 Blood, Warhammer 40K: Darktide and Deep Rock Galactic as the “difference between linear levels with adrenaline-fueled survival and an open world story with immersive exploration.”

The open world in Redfall is said to be a big one, and there will be a lot of NPCs and quests to get your story going on. Game will also allow players to not pick quests and simply dive into the world. There will be no vehicles, and game’s pace is adjusted to be viable for this sort of gameplay. Hopefully we will see all of them during the first half of 2023.
