Late news may be suggesting that Sony is actually making moves to take a solid step in the mobile gaming industry first-hand. A fresh patent noticed by some curious eyes (oscar goes to VGC this time) is hinting that Sony is in works to create a controller that hints a future mobile controller for PlayStation.
Jim Ryan previously said that “We have been thinking about how players enjoy our content and have had some early success with experimenting with mobile games and apps to provide more choice to gamers, mobile is just one of the areas we are exploring to reach millions of gamers beyond our platforms. PlayStation has a huge catalogue of diverse first-party IP that can transition to smartphone gaming and complement our AAA games or live service games. We are exploring the mobile market with some wonderful PlayStation franchises so please stay tuned.” regarding their intentions on the mobile market.
Considering the recent steps taken towards other platforms with first-party exclusive games like Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War, Sony diving into mobile does not seem too far as a possibility. Currently there is not much information regarding the patented device, and there may be a long time before it comes out.
