Steam Deck received an update for SteamOS

Steam Deck was quiet for a while. After the shipments were handled quicker than expected for this year and everyone got their devices, probably there were no one remained to speak about it because they were all too busy playing. Now a new SteamOS update arrived so we can talk again.

This new update raises SteamOS version to a new level called KDE Plasma, improving its desktop mode and bringing some nice features. One of the best QoL features is the swipe gestures for users while on desktop. You can open different windows with different gestures. A fun feature is synchronizing your desktop accent color with your wallpaper’s dominant color.

Support for system tray widgets also arrived with KDE Plasma. You can utilize your system tray in a much better way now. Besides the new features, there are some fixes for issues such as some games acting weird after device wakes up from sleep mode. Performance is also improved at certain points. Last but not least, a hotfix allowed us to use Switch controllers.
