We are finally being able to link PlayStation Network accounts and Steam accounts, as of today’s news. It is not a huge surprise as early 2022 had some hints for us that Sony was working to achieve this. The feature finally became official with the latest update.
PlayStation website provides a new registration page which allows players to connect their accounts. The findings in early 2022 were there in Marvel’s Spider-Man files, with some references to “PSNAccountLinked” and “PSNLinkingEntitlements”. This meant that there were some plans to make it happen already.
Currently it is not known if Sony has plans to include other PC releases with some sort of update for this functionality. Web page for PlayStation PC registration has the visuals of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection, God of War and Days Gone so it might be a clue. As a last note, PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst said that future console games from Sony will have to wait at least a year before coming to PC except the live service games.
