Steam UI will replace Big Picture mode on desktop client

Steam Deck UI by Valve has a pretty neat look and it is quite useful on the device itself. While it is specifically designed for the handheld console we all want to put our hands on, there is a reminder by Valve about the nice UI it has.

Pretty soon, Steam Deck UI will be replacing the Big Picture mode in the desktop client of Steam. Big Picture mode, for those who do not know, is the interface that resembles the one we use with gamepads or special controllers to navigate on our smart television screens. You can also check it from the “View” section of desktop client of Steam.

While the news about Steam Deck UI replacing the Big Picture mode on the Steam desktop client is not entirely new, it is apparently forgotten. Since the Big Picture mode is an old interface which is now outdated, Valve has been intending to renew the Big Picture mode with their new interface. Now they are coming closer to make the change happen, they mentioned that it will happen in stages.

Last but not least, Valve is also improving the docked experience with Steam Deck for USB-C hubs and external displays. Official docks are delayed at the moment, but it might bring us better interaction and harmony with those devices when they are ready.
