Battlefield 2042 will have a new narrative campaign

According to the latest news, Electronic Arts has set up a new Battlefield studio to work on a new narrative campaign for the franchise. Studio is called Ridgeline Games and it is based in Kirkland, Washington. Team under the banner will be led by former Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto.

Currently there are not much details about the upcoming narrative, such as the release date or the platforms for release. Still, it is considered as a good move by many because Battlefield 2042 did not have its own campaign mode at launch. A lot of companies are investing more in live-service games nowadays and forgetting about campaigns, so this is a great sign that Electronic Arts did not forget about the good old games.

The rough launch period of Battlefield 2042 did not stop Electronic Arts, and the company is still dedicated to the Battlefield franchise. They are even working on a mobile Battlefield title which is expected to be released this year.

There is also news of a goodbye, as creative director Lars Gustavsson is leaving the studio after 20 years of hard work in Dice. According to the news, he is moving on to “something new”.
