Anti-cheat software BattlEye and Easy Anti-Cheat have confirmed they will support Valve’s handheld Steam Deck. This should be great news before Steam Deck becomes more prevalent among gamers as the current state of cheating in online games is already terrifying enough.

BattlEye is already actively used in games like Destiny 2, Rainbow Six Siege and PUBG. They announced that the product will be running on Linux, MacOS, Wine and Proton – last one being the system used on Steam Deck.

This is also important on another aspect. Some of the systems that intend to provide anti-cheating measures like Capcom’s DRM system can affect the performance of games. Resident Evil Village has been the latest serious example of this.

On the other hand, Easy Anti-Cheat is also expected to run on Steam Deck without any problems.

Still though, Bungie warned Destiny 2 PC players regarding possible performance impact due to newly implemented anti-cheat system. While developers are trying their best to minimize such impacts, it is still a software that requires a certain amount of system resources and it will more or less have an impact.
