After a very stressful development and launch period, The Callisto Protocol is now going through more quiet times. Expectations about The Callisto Protocol was really intense, but recent reports about the sales are revealing otherwise.
According to a report from MK-Odyssey, game still did not recover the development costs. A new IP trying to find success through a relatively niche genre is truly a risky move. An example of this could be Resident Evil Village, as it already had a strong fan base. In its first six months, RE: Village sold 6 million copies.
With current sales numbers, The Callisto Protocol is still yet to hit 2 million and it does not seem possible anytime soon. Due to this unexpected challenge, Krafton’s stock price already had a drop and its investors were not really happy with the reviews and reactions from the community. For such huge expectations, a Metacritic score around 75 is indeed not really satisfying.
