In a recent announcement, Sony confirmed that they will be removing the direct player support for PlayStation via Twitter as of August 1st. Players who need support will be directed to the support websites instead. This announcement was made by the official AskPlayStation account on Twitter, and they also included other support sites in their Tweet.
Players will still contact real human support agents via websites, but apparently Sony wants players to go through the possible easy and smooth solutions before reaching out to a human support. Refund requests and password resets are also automated, so most common problems should be resolved without any need for human support.
Reason for this downsizing move is not clarified yet, but the predictions about the near future is not bright about PlayStation support’s workload. Since PlayStation 5 had a rough launch with various problems, this reduction in support will make things probably more difficult for everyone.
