It is no secret that Battlefield 2042 suffered a very unsuccessful launch, yet DICE is far from giving up. With the patch 4.0 released last week, some players are actually coming back. Even more important, they are coming back to stay.

The player count trackers like Steam Charts noticed a sharp rise in the numbers of returning players after patch 4.0 was released. While such temporary spikes are usually understandable as people want to try and see the changes for themselves, this time more people are actually staying.

Considering that the game actually had a freefall in player count for four months in a row, it may be the milestone they were working hard to reach. Still though, game has a long way ahead to jump back to the numbers they actually aimed to see.
