Hideo Kojima is truly a magnet of chaos and turmoil in the gaming industry, and he deserves to be one – in a good way. Being a unique personality and creating admirable games since years, every step he takes becomes a reason for rumors and speculation.
Lately there have been some rumors about Sony to acquire Kojima Productions. Interesting part is that the chaos around this rumor was caused by a tweet posted by Kojima himself. He had to openly and decisively clarify that there will be no such move, and Kojima Productions will stay independent. This began earlier this week after Sony expanding the banner image on the PlayStation Studios website, that contains famous Sony videogame characters to also include Sam Porter Bridges from Death Stranding. Then, yesterday, Kojima himself tweeted the same image, complete with the PlayStation Studios logo. It was just a matter of moments before people had ideas all over the place.
Honestly, those rumors and guesses were really understandable after the recent acquisition carnage that took place among the big brands. But this time we seem to be mistaken as Kojima took a direct approach to prevent further “entertainment”.
His motives to share that image still unknown. Maybe he just simply wanted to share it because he liked the banner. He might have even guessed that such a spark will come off and cause some ruckus that is fun to watch for a while. This is Kojima, and everything is possible with him.
