Elden Ring already has proven long ago that it will be a strong contender for 2022 among the games to be released during the year. Mixing the Souls gameplay with a promising open-world, FromSoftware also admitted that they are slightly worried about fans comparing Elden Ring to the Demon’s Souls PS5 remake.

During an interview, director Hidetaka Miyazaki said the following:

“I’m pretty sure our graphics-creation staff felt pressure more than anyone else. Graphical fidelity is not something we put as the top priority. What we ask for on the graphics side depends on the systems and requirements of the game itself, and it takes less priority compared to the other elements of development. This is always an area where I feel a little bit apologetic towards my graphics team because I know they work extremely hard. And they’ve worked extremely hard on Elden Ring – our graphics systems team and our programmers have been pushing a lot of new features to create the best-looking game we’ve ever made.”

Such fan concerns aren’t entirely illogical, given that Demon’s Souls is a new-gen exclusive whilst Elden Ring is a cross-generation release – thus it is expected to keep the graphics “bad enough” to allow the systems on lower end. Evidently, FromSoftware is relying on gameplay component for stealing the show.

Elden Ring launches on February 25, 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
