World was recently shocked due to the assassination of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, as he was shot and killed during a speech. While there are a lot of speculations and discussions going on, one of them is extremely close with the gaming industry as some “news” seem to use photographs of Hideo Kojima as the “perpetrator” of this assassination.
Kojima Productions took immediate action against these false rumors spreading, and publicly stated that they are going to take legal action against whoever spreads these images.
Unsurprisingly, this “joke” started in 4chan. In reality, Abe was shot by a person named Tetsuya Yamagami and he admitted his crime. Many people already knew that this was some sick joke, but there are some people and media companies who were unaware of the situation. Damien Rieu already apologized for the misunderstanding, but some others kept spreading the word as if it was a fact. Therefore, Kojima Productions had to take immediate action to stop this madness for once and for all.
