Finally after a huge bunch of rumors, leaks and everything that falls between, we have seen the Silent Hill Transmission showcase. Konami shared a 48-minute long video of what is expected in the future for the Silent Hill franchise.
Rumors told us that Konami was committed to revive the Silent Hill series, so expectations were high. There were not many surprises, but what we saw during the showcase was still impressive. The show began with Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake project. They have not given us any release date, but it is confirmed that the game will be exclusive for PlayStation 5 and PC during first 12 months after release. According to their words, Bloober Team wants to bring back the legend in a modernized way.
It is not the only news about Silent Hill 2 though, as Konami welcomes Christophe Gans again for a new movie based on Silent Hill 2. Gans was the director of the Silent Hill movie which was released in 2006. Gans also shared a lot of insight about this new movie, and what he wanted to achieve with it.
Besides the game and movie projects, Konami also introduced a bunch of merchandise they are planning to release. The merchandise include statues, t-shirts, pins, caps, sign, plush toy and skateboard decks.
There are even more projects we have heard about. Silent Hill: Ascension is seemingly a multiplayer game where people will be sharing a story with live choices and without a reset button. An interactive Silent Hill story you could share with your friends sounds like an interesting idea indeed. Another project, which we hear only very briefly, is Silent Hill: Townfall. Not much details are given about this one, but it is being developed by No Code Studio and Annapurna Interactive together.
Before the video ends, Konami shared us a short trailer from another upcoming game, Silent Hill f. The story takes place in 60’s Japan, and it shows some geniusly gross scenes. We are sure that tryphophobes that are caught off-guard were deprived of sleep next night, so watch at your own risk.
To wrap it all up, we have seen a good bunch of Silent Hill projects that would surely appeal to the fans one way or another. But the real question for most people is this:
“Will Konami be able to recover from what they have lost after Silent Hill P.T. was cancelled?”
