The day Battlefield fans have been waiting for has arrived. EA has announced the open beta date and PC system requirements for Battlefield 2042.

The open beta of the game will start on October 6 at 9:00 AM CEST and will last until October 7 as part of early access for those who pre-order and EA Play subscribers. The open beta will be available to all players from 8 October (9:00 am CEST) and will run until 9 October. In addition, the game will be available for download (pre-load) from October 5 (9:00 am CEST).

During the open beta, players will play on the Orbital map accompanied by the Conquest mode and will be able to choose 4 different specialists.

System requirements for Battlefield 2042

Minimum PC requirements:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i5 6600K
  • Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 560 | 4GB VRAM
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage: 100GB
  • OS: 64-bit Windows 10

Recommended PC requirements:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X or Intel Core i7 4790
  • Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT | 8GB VRAM
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Storage: 100GB SSD
  • OS: 64-bit Windows 10

When we look at the system requirements of the game, we see that there is no need for high-end hardware, but the minimum processor requirement is AMD Ryzen 5 3600, while specifying the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X as the recommended processor seems pretty ridiculous. Likewise, the Intel Core i5 6600K is a better processor than the Intel Core i7 4790. Besides, putting the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and the Intel Core i5 6600K side by side is an extremely interesting choice. It seems like a mistake was probably made when determining this list, or at best, multi-core performance on paper was taken into account.

Aside from these quirks, the trailer video for the open beta looks extremely exciting. In Battlefield 2042, DICE’s use of more vibrant colors, unlike Battlefield 4, made the game much more lively. Frankly, we think Battlefield fans will look forward to the open beta day.
