Sony has a division dedicated for AI works, called Sony AI. So far, there was not any specific information regarding what they were actually working on, but this week we are getting to know bit by bit. Sony AI and Polyphony Digital, developer of Gran Turismo 7, confirmed that they will make an announcement later this week about a great project they are working on.

“Sony AI, which we established last year, has begun a collaboration with PlayStation that will make game experiences even richer and more enjoyable. By leveraging reinforcement learning, we are developing Game AI Agents that can be a player’s in-game opponent or collaboration partner.”
Some people are taking their guesses on a similar system to “Drivatars” of Forza series. That system analyzes your driving style so it can provide AI-controlled drivers with your friends’ styles to accompany you without them having to be present in the game. We will see if it is the case.
