Nightdive Studios CEO Stephen Kick recently explained in an interview that System Shock 3 is still up to Tencent. In the interview, he said that the rights to make System Shock 3 was originally licensed to OtherSide Entertainment, then Tencent bought it and currently they are in charge of the decision.

According to his explanation, Nightdive Studios still have the rights to make the remake versions of first two games. On the other hand, Tencent preserves its silence about the possibility of making a sequel. As a side note, OtherSide Entertainment did not work on System Shock 3 since 2019 so it does not seem bright for the series at the moment.

System Shock Remake is on its way, so fans are not totally abandoned. There is a fresh trailer about the current state of the game which was revealed in Gamescom, and the latest test build is already playable in the event area. Warren Spector and Paul Neurath, original creators of the System Shock, are also providing feedback to Nightdive Studios about the development process so we can expect a solid quality remake.
