Torchlight Infinite entered playtest on Steam

After Torchlight 3 did not deliver what was expected from the sequel, series was quiet for some time. Earlier this year, a new game called Torchlight Infinite was revealed both for PC and for mobile platforms. Recently, it was noticed that Torchlight Infinite entered a closed playtest on Steam.

Most players remember first two games of the series with great memories when people were eager to try more games that resemble Diablo. With its colorful and simple art style, these games were really great to enjoy for a long time. After Runic Games was shut down by Perfect World in 2017, things went down unfortunately.

This time though, things look a bit different after Echtra Games missed its mark with Torchlight 3. Perfect World gave the franchise to XD Inc., based in Shanghai. They revealed some of the customization, grinding, in-game auction house aspects of the game. Mobile releases lately raises questions about the monetization of the game especially after Diablo Immortal, but XD Inc. says that it will not be a burden on players’ shoulders while exclusive drops can only be achieved with grind. If players want to build some customized appearances, it will be available in microtransactions.

After all, a F2P Torchlight game on Steam and Mobile does not sound that bad as long as it does not turn out to be a P2W like Diablo Immortal. Time will tell how it goes.
