One of the most expected League of Legends visual champion reworks, Udyr is finally getting the love from Riot Games. This should have come long ago as his visuals fell behind of many other champions, old and new alike.
First thing to notice is obviously the reference to the Freljord demi-gods rather than the plain animal spirits. While the theme of animals is still being preserved, the animations and visuals are boasting a “colder” and stern look. Now our wild monk is tied to Ram, Boar, Bear and Phoenix. This also gives him a stronger vibe of tough wild man as coming from a “colder” nature. If you are thinking “Isn’t Phoenix supposed to be all fiery and hot?”, just wait until you see the trailer.
In the short gameplay trailer released, we are seeing Udyr using all the new skills. Now rather than just a glimpse of the animal spirits, he has the animations that resemble “equipping” their powers and manifesting the nature of the animal that is communed with. If there are going to be any changes to the mechanical parts of those skills, it is not revaled yet by Riot Games. In any case, one of the oldest champions in League of Legends is coming back to life after a long time.
