Valve’s awaited gaming device Steam Deck is announced!

Valve announced the handheld gaming device that will attract the attention of players. The name of the device, which was previously rumored to be “Steam Pal”, is Steam Deck. Powered by AMD Zen 2 and an RDNA 2-based chipset, this device looks like a portable small PC.

Steam Deck will run with Valve’s Linux Arch-based SteamOS 3.0 operating system, and thanks to the “Proton” compatibility layer, it will be possible to play Windows games without any problems. Valve says that any program and game can be installed on this device, other operating systems can be used virtually, and any peripherals can be attached to the device.

The device has LAN, HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.4 and 3 USB Type-A ports (1x USB-A 3.1 and 2x USB-A 2.0). In addition, the device optionally supports a dock using the USB-C port. Thanks to this dock, the Steam Deck will be able to be connected to a monitor or TV.
