FIFA is clearly one of the most famous sports organizations, and Electronic Arts have been providing many titles for football fans to enjoy every year. But this licensing may come to an end soon. It is being discussed that Electronic Arts wants to expand its scope of possibilities for future endeavors and this could mean dropping FIFA naming.

As much as this may sound like a speculation, it is actually seen on Electronic Arts’ website. Post mentions the intention of expanding the scope for future games especially in regards to women’s soccer.

EA Sports Group General Manager Cam Weber says “We hear consistently that what matters most is growing the global community, creating innovative football experiences across new platforms, a commitment to every level of the sport including grassroots, and accelerating the elevation of the women’s game.”

For this purpose, EA is considering renaming its main football video games to broaden its offerings.

Weber continued the previous words with “As we look ahead, we’re also exploring the idea of renaming our global EA Spots football games. This means we’re reviewing our naming rights agreement with FIFA, which is separate from all our other official partnerships and licenses across the football world.”

EA already included the ability to play UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, CONMEBOL Libertadores, Premier League, Bundesliga, and LaLiga Santander clubs, as well as featuring some level of women’s league and club play in their recent games. In that sense, near future may hold such news and attempts for Electronic Arts if Weber’s vision will be carried forward.
