Back 4 Blood will get a difficulty nerf soon

Back 4 Blood is a hard game and even the developers at Turtle Rock agree. Developers recently said that they will adjust Back 4 Blood’s more punishing systems back to easier levels in order to balance its brutal difficulty curve.

They mentioned that they still want the game to be difficult, but in a more managable way rather than outright punishing.

The explanation by Turtle Rock Studios was “Difficulty needs to be our ‘baby bear’ in Back 4 Blood’s Goldilocks story. It needs to be ‘just right.’ We want it tense. We want it challenging. We want you barely squeaking into the saferoom with a horde hot on your heels and you feeling that rush. We do not want it unmanageable. We do not want it to be unfair. That is our mission.”.

There are a few steps in mind for the current state of game’s difficulty. For example, Ridden Mutations will spawn less frequently in the future. The studio has also recently fixed a bug that was causing players to receive Trauma damage at an unintentionally high rate. As if a group of Tallboys and Hockers were not enough.

Turtle Rock actually gave a more detailed description around its plans to increase build diversity. Specifically in one of the points they made, developers said that they want to empower players who would prefer a slower pace rather than rushing through.

As much as it is possible to discuss the game’s current state or upcoming changes in the future, one thing is certain – Back 4 Blood and Turtle Rock Studios are open for player feedback and they are intending to improve the game towards its potential best.
